NOARK Chalet
Vacation Rental
250 Madison 8580 | Huntsville, AR
This highly unknown design is now available for overnight rentals to the public. Designed for the NOARK Girl Scout Camp in Huntsville, AR, by renowned architect E. Fay Jones in 1966, the Chalet is an A-frame structure originally designed as a dining hall and later converted into a troop house. Construction was completed in 1967, making it the very first structure at Camp NOARK following the land purchase. The Chalet features central heat and air, sleeping accommodation for 12, a full kitchen, and restrooms with stalls and showers.
Inside, guests will find signature Jones design touches, including a simplified balustrade extending beyond the beam line, his signature light fixtures, stone fireplace, and a dramatic skylight that runs along the chimney’s rear staircase. An especially unique element of Jones’s original design was a series of screened openings with louver covers near floor level to allow natural light and cross-ventilation - these have since been replaced with windows. Outside, the Chalet offers an outdoor fire circle with picnic table and a small rear balcony accessed by a tight spiral staircase.
Camp NOARK also offers equine activities during your stay, which can be scheduled by emailing barn@girlscoutsdiamonds.org
The camp now offers all its facilities for rent. It would be a great place for family reunions, company retreats and team building weekends. Another great opportunity to “Stay in a Fay”!
